Your Wool Care Guide
Cosy, quality materials like lambswool and cashmere can bring you comfort and care for years — as long as you take proper care of them. To keep your scarves and blankets feeling luxurious and looking lush, follow these simple care tips.
General Care Tips
Wash Less, Enjoy More
Wool is naturally odour-resistant and doesn’t need frequent washing. Simply air out your scarves and blankets in a breezy spot. Lay them flat to refresh and remove any lingering odours.
Handle Gently
Treat your wool like the precious treasure it is. Fold gently, avoid stretching, and keep it off the hanger to prevent any unwanted stretching or sagging.
Spot Clean
Spills happen! For those little mishaps, use wool-specific soap and a gentle touch. Dab, don’t rub. Opt for a soft towel or old pillowcase over sponges.
Brush Regularly
Use a soft bristle brush to whisk away dirt. Lay your item flat and brush with long, smooth strokes to keep it looking its best.
Hand Washing
- Prepare Your Basin: Fill with cold or lukewarm water and add a small splash of wool detergent or mild soap.
- Submerge Gently: Place your scarf or blanket in the water and gently swirl —no rubbing or wringing!
- Soak: Let the item soak for 5-10 minutes.
- Rinse Thoroughly: Drain the soapy water and rinse with clean, cold water until clear.
- Press Out Excess Water: Lay flat on a clean towel and gently press to remove excess water. Do not wring or twist.
- Dry Flat: Reshape and lay flat on a dry towel. Roll up to absorb moisture and keep away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Skip the Tumble Dryer: Tumble drying can cause shrinkage and damage.
Handling Pilling
Small fuzz balls can form due to friction. Those little fuzzies are a natural part of wool life. We suggest using a fine-toothed wool comb to gently lift them away. Lightly comb in one direction to remove pills.
Professional Cleaning
● Dry Cleaning: For cashmere, dry cleaning is your best friend. We recommend this pampering for all your cashmere items.
● Machine Washing: Machine washing can be wool's worst enemy. Avoid it to keep your lambswool and cashmere from shrinking.
Storing Your Wool
● Clean Before Storing: Clean items first to prevent stains and discourage moths.
● Airtight Storage: Store in airtight bags or containers. If using plastic, make sure it breathes or has a small ventilation hole.
● Moth Protection: Place cedar balls or lavender sachets in storage to keep moths away.
Wrinkle Removal
Wool is naturally wrinkle-resistant. Simply lay flat in a well-ventilated room to freshen up — no need for ironing or steaming.
Scarf vs. Blanket Care
● Scarves: Protect from makeup and perfumes to avoid stains. Store flat or rolled, not hung.
● Blankets: Completely dry them before storing to prevent mould. Use a large, breathable storage bag.
Follow these simple steps, and you’ll keep your items snuggly and stunning for years to come.
